Haha pretty disappointing to be honest, flying to Russia and getting hotels booked and tickets bought will be a lot dearer than flying to England and doing likewise, which is just across the pond so to speak.
Ah well, Russia have a good bid so hopefully it's good anyway. Qatar, I agree with Jelly, complete bribe. Quatar are WORSE than Faroe Islands in footballing terms/knowledge/reputation. For sure
I'm pleased Russia got it instead of the joint bid of Spain and Portugal, I hate those joint bids. Also, Russia have never hosted the World Cup before so it'll be good. Bloody cold for all them going however! haha.
Qatar on the other hand... they're a Muslim country, so how are they gonna like drunk men, football hotties walking round in a bikini top and body paint...

No different than most places here in the USA these days mate.
Public drinking is not allowed unless you are in Vegas or New Orleans. Thongs have been banned in most of Florida.
Its really taking the joy out of Footie.......................
I was shocked when I heard the news, but are we really that surprised? No!
Good luck to Russia and Qatar though, and I'm especially looking forward to the Qatar WC, as their stadiums are going to be extra special, and be detachable ready for shipment to third world countries at the end of the games.
This is a complete joke. Not sure how you can think that Russia's bid for any good, as FIFA's own technical reports had them as the riskiest bid.
the fact that England got just 2 votes, shows that something strange has gone on. Were FIFA spooked by recent media reports (Times and Panorama)? If so, they paid more attention to those reports than their own technical reports.
What a complete waste of time, money and resources, putting a bid together. FIFA may as well have come over here and done a report on hedgehog tennis, for all the difference it made to the bid.
They should say at the start that they'll only accept bids from countries who haven't hosted before, rather than allow countries to go through this charade.
Reports suggest that Malta and Cyprus are going to bid for the 2030 World Cup.
As for Qatar! Why not Australia? They have more of an interest in football than Qatar. Even India does. It can only be down to money.
When Blatter needed re-electing a few years ago, he went to all the small nations and promised them riches if they voted for him. Is this what we are left with? They don't allow alcohol in Qatar, it is a muslim country and the amount of people who went to the WC in S.Africa was more than the entire population of Qatar. How are they going to cope with an influx of that many people into their country?
This is the World Cup, for god's sake. Not some piddly little local tournament. Only one sporting event is bigger than this, and that's the Olympics. Have the Olympics ever been held in Qatar? No. There's a reason for that.
Clearly Putin knew it was a done deal as he didn't even bother turning up for the ceremony and Abramovich's money was all over it.
Complete joke. I wouldn't have minded Portugal/Spain getting it. But to say that our bid was even worse than Belgium/Netherlands, just stinks to me.
It has been a complete waste of time, why does the BBC and the other Media always have something to screw it up? It's as if they don't want the UK to succeed in anything they try to do. I'm surprised we actually got the Olympics to be honest.
It's getting like the Eurovision, where no-one votes for the UK, as we're not really bordering anyone, or great friends with anyone.
I agree about Australia having more interest in football as well, but I guess it's down to the infrastructure, and the money it generates, which is sad as this just emphasises the game's state at the moment. Qatar though, have promised to donate their top tiers of their stadiums to the third World, which to be honest is a good thing to do but is it necessary...probably not. Will it be beneficial to those countries? No, it'll probably get vandalised and left to rot.
The World Cup is the biggest tournement there is in Football, and it needs to be treated with dignity and respect.
And for Putin and Abramovich, it has been clear for a few years that Roman would be helping to finance the bid, but I'm starting to think he's done more than finance the bid, and has helped to finance other countries bank accounts. Putin not showing up? that just tells it all really.
As for the Spain/Portugal bid, it would've been my second choice, as they already have everything in place.
