There's Always a Silver Lining

Sport can be a cruel career you need skill but just as importantly you need a body that will let you preform to that potential especially in football. There have been players with the world at there feet but due to injury never for filled there potential.

So in saying that let me introduce you to James Blair born on 15 of March 1985 at Fairfield Hospital in West Sydney NSW Australia. He Lived in Sydney till he was 12 and moved up the coast to a sleep town of Morisset, Lake Macquaire. At 15 he is scouted by both the Central Coast Mariners and there local fierce rivals Newcastle United Jets but being a Mariners fans since they were founded he could not bring himself to sign for the Jets even when they offered him 4 times the mariners price he signed a one year deal in a quit manner the signing wasn't even put on the Mariners website.

The 2000 preseason with the Mariners, he was a 15 year old boy but showed better skill the even the best senior players the legendary Gaffer slash Mentor Lawire Mckinna started him training with the senior squad. The first game of the year James played out of his skin. For the first half of the year he scored ten times in 13 games completely dominating for the Mariners and was named best in the league, maybe ever for Australia at only the age now of 16.

It wasn't long before the big sharks of Europe came knocking, although never officially confirmed clubs like Ajax, Lyon, Real Madrid, and even Gaints Liverpool were touted as potential clubs interested in the 16 year olds services. But there was only one place he wanted to go the theater of dreams Old Trafford.

On June 12 2001 the Mariner and Manchester United announced that the "Boy Wonder" had been sold to the gaints for 5,000,000 Austrlian Dollars on a 5 year contract. The next day James trained at the new state of the art training centre Carrington he didnt get to much attention due to United newest stars Ruud van Nistelrooy and Juan Sebastián Verón just being signed it was also there first training session.

After three months and numerous showings in the reserves James was on the bench for a game against Charlton athletic but didn't play. It wasn't till 5 January 2002 in the FA cup third round against Aston Villa that James started. He had a good Game setting up the winner for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

In the rest 2001-2002 seaon he made 7 more apperences mostly off the bench but dominated the reserves. Also in that season he made all 12 possible apperences for Australia scoring 7 goals.

United were ready to unleash him onto the league for the 2002-2003 season now being 17 he was touted by many critics as the young player to watch. After he played all 10 pre season games scoring 4 times and getting 15 assists. The opening game of the season on 17 of August against West Brom at Old Trafford. The Manchester United team was star studded with Giggs, Beckham, van Nistelrooy, Keane and the young 17 year old wizkid James Blair. In the 80th min after a sensation move dribbling through 4 players he was lining up a shot when Darren Moore made a terrible tackle and James was stretchered off with a visibly broken leg.

That would be the last game for the Red Devils and in England as a player. The next day the club doctor told Sir Alex it was quote "the worst break he has ever seen in 30 year as a doctor" he had surgery and was put onto a i program. He was sent back to Australia to be closer to family with the doctors stating he would be able to play for the rest of the season.

James could never recover fully he went back to England but never even played for the reserves due to his leg hurting when he ran. On 12 of November 2003 the club had stated that James and the club had come to a mutual Release settlement. He turned to Lake Macquaire a shattered person only training with the Mariners to see if he could play full time with them. In fact he made it worse not even being able to walk on it without a limp which today is a trademark forwhat he is know for.

Whist he was recovering in 2002 he was studying sports science at the local university he the graduated in 2006 and took on the Mariners Youth team leading them to 4 consecutive youth league titles.

In 2010 he was offered the Olyroos managerial position (the Australian Olympic team) he took it.

On 10 of July 2011 after being promoted to the English Premier League from the Championship the Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins approached James with a two year 17,250 p/w contract after Brendan Rodgers left for Liverpool. Only 5 days later The club and James were happy to announce that James had accepted the contract and was looking forward to taking on his first club.

This is the story of a man who had the world at his feet and now has the opportunity to for fill his destiny as a legend of the game. What a Face

everything is legit like matches but the central coast Mariners weren't around then that's the only false bit oh and all the James Blair bits. The goals, line-up and dates of the fa cup are real and the goal scorers.
